Student accommodation security protects residents, common areas and a duty of care — across purpose-built student accommodation and university residences as part of broader Education Security requirements.
StateGuard secures student housing with a welcoming-but-disciplined model: front-of-house concierge and access control, welfare-aware after-hours patrols, alarm and CCTV response, and managed guest sign-in.
From concierge and access management to mobile patrols, alarm response and Grade A1 monitoring, our teams help operators manage anti-social behaviour, unauthorised guests, tailgating and out-of-hours incidents while keeping students supported.
Backed by Mission Talk, the Assist App, NFC patrol verification and our National Operations Centre, every shift is documented, auditable and accountable.

Proof of patrol completion
It covers front-of-house concierge and access control, after-hours mobile patrols, alarm response, CCTV monitoring and incident management tailored to residential student buildings. In practice that means verifying residents and visitors at entry, managing tailgating and unauthorised guests, responding to noise and anti-social behaviour, conducting welfare-aware patrols of common areas and car parks, and escalating serious matters to building management or external authorities. StateGuard structures this around our 7 Phases so coverage, reporting and escalation are consistent across every site.
Our officers are briefed to prioritise de-escalation, resident dignity and rapid escalation to the right responder rather than acting as counsellors. Guards follow site-specific welfare protocols agreed with the operator, log the interaction through the Assist App, and use Mission Talk to immediately connect with the National Operations Centre and nominated building or duty-of-care contacts. For medical or self-harm concerns, officers escalate to emergency services and external authorities while providing a calm, supportive presence until help arrives.
Concierge security officers verify residents against the operator’s access list, issue and manage temporary credentials under your policy, and record guest sign-in and sign-out so there is an auditable trail of who is in the building. Tailgating at main entries is actively managed, and lost-fob or after-hours lockout situations are handled per agreed procedures rather than ad hoc. Every access exception is logged in the Assist App so management has a real-time picture rather than a paper book that goes missing.
Coverage is scaled to the academic calendar because risk profiles shift sharply across the year. For example, O-Week and move-in typically need heavier concierge and patrol presence for crowd flow, intoxication and unauthorised gatherings, while semester breaks shift the focus to vacant-floor patrols, securing unoccupied rooms and deterring opportunistic intrusion. In contrast, exam periods often call for quieter, welfare-aware patrolling and noise management. We agree these surge and reduction plans in advance so staffing matches actual demand.
Response times depend on your site location, patrol routing and the priority of the activation, so we set agreed targets per site rather than quoting a single figure. Activations flow through our National Operations Centre, which dispatches the nearest available patrol and tracks them in real time via Mission Talk, with NFC patrol verification confirming the officer physically attended each checkpoint. For buildings on monitored alarms, our Grade A1 Monitoring Centre verifies the signal and coordinates response and external-authority escalation as needed.
Every patrol checkpoint is confirmed with NFC patrol verification, which timestamps the officer’s physical presence at each point and removes any reliance on a signature in a logbook. Incidents, welfare checks and access exceptions are captured in the Assist App, and all activity is overseen by the National Operations Centre so operators receive auditable, time-stamped reporting. This evidence trail supports duty-of-care obligations and gives universities and PBSA operators defensible records if an incident is later reviewed.
